Frequently Asked Questions
Practical answers about residential concrete projects in Abilene, TX.
Estimates
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. Campos Concrete Construction provides free estimates for residential concrete projects. Call (469) 479-3500 or submit the online estimate form.
What information should I have ready when I request an estimate?
It helps to share the type of project, your city or ZIP code, the approximate size of the area, the current condition of any existing concrete, and photos if you have them. We will follow up to discuss details.
What affects the price of a concrete project?
Pricing depends on factors such as the size and thickness of the slab, removal of existing concrete, site access, grading and base preparation, the finish selected, and site-specific conditions. Because every project is different, we provide pricing after reviewing your project rather than publishing general rates.
Planning & preparation
How should I plan a new concrete project?
Think about how the space will be used, where water drains today, how the new concrete connects to existing surfaces, and whether any utilities, sprinklers or roots are in the area. We talk through these points during the estimate.
What preparation happens before concrete is placed?
Preparation commonly includes removing old material, grading, compacting the base and setting forms for shape and slope. Good preparation is a big part of how well a slab performs over time.
Do I need to do anything before the crew arrives?
Clearing vehicles, furniture and other items from the work area and making sure the crew can access it is helpful. We will let you know about anything specific to your project.
Curing, weather & scheduling
How long before I can use new concrete?
Concrete gains strength gradually as it cures. When it is reasonable to walk or drive on it depends on the mix, the weather and how the surface will be used. We will give you guidance specific to your project.
Does weather affect scheduling?
Yes. Rain, very high heat, strong wind or freezing temperatures can affect placement and curing. Projects may be rescheduled when conditions are not suitable, and we will communicate changes as early as possible.
Repair & maintenance
Should I repair or replace damaged concrete?
Repair can be reasonable when damage is limited to a small area. Replacement may make more sense when cracking is widespread, sections have settled significantly, or the surface is deteriorating over a large area. We assess the condition and explain the options.
How do I maintain residential concrete?
Keep surfaces clean, address spills promptly, direct downspouts and sprinklers away from slab edges, and ask about sealing options suitable for your surface.
Are cracks in concrete normal?
Some hairline cracking from shrinkage is common, which is why control joints are used. Wide, growing or uneven cracks are worth having looked at.
